What About Radon or Mold?

What is Radon?

Radon is a cancer causing radioactive gas. You cannot see radon and you cannot smell it or taste it, but it may be a problem in your home. This is because when you breathe air-containing radon, you increase your risk of getting lung cancer. In fact, the Surgeon General has warned that radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.

Built-Write can test for Radon, for a nominal extra fee.  Most of Florida has not had measurable concentrations of radon, therefore, most Florida mortgage companies will not require testing.

See the link to EPA’s radon map of Florida on the related links page.

What is Mold?

Mold grows everywhere. Especially in Florida.

Mold needs moisture to grow.  In newer “air tight” homes, there is a greater risk of mold growing because of a lack of  ventilation.

If you think there is mold in your home, consult with a professional home inspector that offers mold analysis.  An inspector can usually locate the source of moisture (roof leak, flashing, gutters, drainage problems) and recommend methods to eliminate the moisture.

See the link to the EPA on the links page of this web site.

Built-Write can take carpet samples or air samples and have them analyzed by a Certified Professional Laboratory
